Ecco a voi l'album degli olandesi The Gathering dove fa il suo riuscitissimo debutto un' imberbe -nonchè talentuosa- fanciulla chiamata Anneke van Giersbergen,ovvero una delle vocalist che rimarrà sempre nel gotha delle mie favorite.
E' un vero peccato che abbia lasciato i The Gathering:ritengo che negli Agua de Annique non sfrutti al massimo le sue ottime capacità.
Mandylion è un album che non cessa mai di emozionare,è un gioiellino da trattare coi guanti bianchi.
Brani come Strange Machines,Eleanor,In Motion e Fear the sea riescono a penetrare le difese del contegno con cui maschero il mio volto ogni giorno e ad entrare dentro,silenti come farfalle malate, bruciando sotto la pelle.
L'album deve essere ascoltato e digerito con estrema calma,non può essere liquidato su due piè.
Non merita di esserlo.
