Debutto più che interessante per i miei parametri di valutazione,anche se alla lunga potrebbero stancare per vari motivi.Più che un album vero e proprio lo considero una prodigiosa soundtrack.Da tenere d'occhio.

Ecco a voi l'album degli olandesi The Gathering dove fa il suo riuscitissimo debutto un' imberbe -nonchè talentuosa- fanciulla chiamata Anneke van Giersbergen,ovvero una delle vocalist che rimarrà sempre nel gotha delle mie favorite.
E' un vero peccato che abbia lasciato i The Gathering:ritengo che negli Agua de Annique non sfrutti al massimo le sue ottime capacità.

Mandylion è un album che non cessa mai di emozionare,è un gioiellino da trattare coi guanti bianchi.
Brani come Strange Machines,Eleanor,In Motion e Fear the sea riescono a penetrare le difese del contegno con cui maschero il mio volto ogni giorno e ad entrare dentro,silenti come farfalle malate, bruciando sotto la pelle.
L'album deve essere ascoltato e digerito con estrema calma,non può essere liquidato su due piè.
Non merita di esserlo.

Mi permetto di consigliarvi un album delicato ed imperdibile per gli amanti del genere,trainato dalla voce dell'usignolo messicano che risponde al nome di Marcela Bovio.Gli Stream of Passion sembrano avere una marcia in più rispetto alle band dello stesso genere e che crescono come funghi (neanche le facessero in serie).
Probabilmente sarà grazie alla benedizione di papà Arjen Anthony Lucassen(Ayreon),che ha preso gli Stream of Passion-impacciati,come qualunque band di questo mondo,agli inizi- sotto la sua ala protettrice e li ha guidati alla scoperta del magico mondo della musica.
Il risultato?Un album gradevole in tutto e per tutto,forse non speciale,ma che si lascia ascoltare.
I brani creano sapientemente quel rarefatto senso di malinconia capace di penetrare la tua barriera ed influenzarti per settimane,facendoti sembrare uno zombie coglione uscito da un horror di pessima fattura.
"Embrace the Storm" è ottimo per ritrovare se stessi tra i meandri della propria mente intenta a crogiolarsi nei ricordi di tempi migliori e oramai andati;non è consigliato se invece preferite ad una serata tranquilla una super-mega festa in compagnia di tipi poco raccomandabili e all'insegna di sex,drugs e rock'n'roll.
Lasciate queste sonorità a chi le sa apprezzare.
